Calorimetric Radiator Testing
Young Calibration’s Radiator Calorimetric Test Facility
offers thermal performance characterisation for automotive,
marine and industrial heat exchangers worldwide. Although
the facility is predominantly aimed at the passenger car
market, the wind tunnel and plant can cover low temperature/
low flow coolers, high performance passenger cars and up
to medium-size truck installations.
Radiator Testing Facilities
Extensive capabilities exist within the laboratory to cover
radiators, cab heaters, low temperature radiators and industrial
coolers.

Detailed test reports present all the data in both tabular and graphical
formats, covering air-side pressure drop, coolant side
pressure drop, heat rejection performance, heat dissipation and individual
measurement uncertainty statements.

The company operates two calorimetric test rigs, both of which can undertake
radiator heat exchanger testing. The open outlet designed tunnel has the facility
to run either, water or 50:50 antifreeze fluids, and has an increased airside
capability upto 5000 Pa. This increased pressure capability allows for the testing of
vehicle front end modules and single seater racecar monocoques to be installed within the tunnel.
We continue to serve a variety of industries, including; military, Formula
1, NASCAR, aerospace, Combined Heat & Power (CHP) applications and more recently
Fuel Cell integration companies.
